The National Technical University of Athens is the leading technical university in Greece. The Computer Science Division of the Electrical and Computer Engineering School covers several fields of practical, theoretical and technical computer science. Among its laboratories, the Knowledge and Database Systems Laboratory focuses on theoretical and applied research in the area of Database and Information Systems.

The Knowledge and Database Systems Laboratory (KDBSL) was founded in 1992 at the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering, having its activities focused on theoretical and applied research in the area of Database and Information Systems:

  • Data Warehouses
  • WWW and Databases
  • Spatial and Geographic Database Systems
  • Web Services
  • Advanced Query Processing and Optimization Techniques

The KDBS lab is led by Prof. Timos Sellis and Prof. Yannis Vassiliou and employs research engineers (PhD holders), several PhD candidates and many graduate students.
